SAT during gap year?

Is there any reason someone shouldn't try to take the SAT again during a gap year?  We only have a few dates available to us overseas for testing -- which usually just means 1 date we can attend in the winter and one date in the spring (usually during AP exams).  My son was really sick for his exam last winter and wants to retake it.  He will be doing an engineering internship (paid) starting in September (hence, the gap year).  He'd like to attempt to take it one more time. Three schools he applied to last fall are deferring his application to this year, and he has six new applications going out.

Thank you.

I dont think there is any problem with taking the SAT during GAP year. It is just taking a college class that the colleges frown on.

And "frown on" is really a euphemism ; ) . What really happens is that the student is knocked out of freshman status and becomes a transfer student by taking even ONE college course (even auditing) after high school graduation -- which loses all of the freshmen scholarships and possibly also any special freshman opportunities or privileges. : (

DS took the ACT in September of his gap year; those were his best scores so that's what he used for his application. If your DS will have EA apps or early scholarship deadlines, then he may be limited to the August 25th or October 6th dates in order to have scores on time. November 1st was the deadline for EA and all merit scholarships at DS's school, so the September ACT was his only option that fall.
