LauraBeth475
Do you do the tests and the lessons and the investigations all on separate days or do you combine some? I’m trying to decide if this should be a 4 or 5 day a week math plan
PeachyDoodle
We did them one per day. The lessons can get pretty long otherwise, at least in the upper elementary/middle school grades. (We didn't use Saxon for the earlier grades.)
freesia
We did 5 days about every other week. Our co-op meets on two fridays a month, so we take those days off. We do the tests and investigations as separate days ( my ds prefers test days bc they are easy lol). I think it makes a nice break in routine. One thing I like about Saxon is that there aren't 180 lessons which gives some flexibility for field trips and co-op.
LauraBeth475
Maybe I’ll plan to schedule tests on our light days...
stlily
We do math 5 days a week. Investigations get their own day and tests get their own day.
veryblueberry
We are finishing the year up and have done math 5 days a week with tests on the same days as a lesson. It was brutal some days. Made it seem like we did math all day. We began homeschooling mid year so that affected our pace. This fall we will begin Saxon 8/7 and I am scheduling 5 days but with tests and investigations having their own day. That'll be super short on test days since those don't take very long. blondeviolin
We do tests and investigations on the same day and school four days a week. Saxon ends up with 132 lesson days and our school year is 144. (We do coop on Fridays that we don't schedule other work for.) I appreciate that it fits in so nicely.
...................
another vote for mostly 5 days per week, and doing tests and investigations separately. I really thought it was nice to have a short day on testing day, so that the tests were something to look forward to!
