ProudGrandma
my daughter (17) just was prescribed an epi-pen. We have several events this summer where she will be wearing a dress...and she doesn't want to wear her epi-pen holder (which goes around her waist) because as she says, "It makes me look like a tourist"....and she really didn't want to carry a purse with her all the whole day. What other options might she have...or is this just the way it is? thanks.
Lizzie in Ma
I don't know but I did find these options. http://www.allergyapparel.com/single-epinephrine-carriers/
Joules
That's about it... My solutions: Get the smallest sling purse that they will fit in, like the tiny things ladies used to put their lipstick and compact in. One with a beaded strap like a necklace that goes cross-body can feel more like an accessory than a purse. Find a lightweight stylish jacket with pockets (this is really tough, denim is about the only thing with sturdy enough pockets) Take mom along with her purse Find a date...particularly a cold-natured one who wears a jacket with pockets If the events are in one contained location, ask if the pens can be stored in the kitchen or at the registration desk or something like that.
Joules
OK, there is an answer I hadn't though of...I was searching for a purse like mine and I found this: https://www.stashbandz.com/products/cell-phone-garter-with-silicone-grip?variant=1916955721740
Dmmetler
I use DH :). It makes up for all the times I end up putting his stuff in my purse. Although his pockets probably aren’t big enough for an epi kit AND my diabetes stuff.
prairiewindmomma
Strap it to her thigh under her dress. I just carry a purse...even some clutches can accommodate them.

I truly just came up with the best mental image of a comic book female superhero wearing an epipen holster on her thigh! “Epi-Girl” ETA: Here we go. Acorn Island
Have your daughter look into getting an Auvi-Q instead of an Epi-Pen. It is the same medication, but they Auvi-Q's are MUCH smaller. She will have an easier time finding a way to carry them.

Hilltopmom
She’ll need to get used to carrying ID and money (& probably a phone too) as an adult, so she might as well embrace the smallest cross body clutch she can find ?
sassenach
A small crossbody or wristlet bag is her best bet.
Acorn Island
The Auvi-Q is about 3.5 inches by 2 inches and about a half inch thick. So, about the size of a credit card, but thicker. Hope that helps! P.S. The Auvi-Q can fit in the pocket of your pants, whereas an EpiPen absolutely could not. She may find there are other times she wants to be out and about without a purse - and it makes a big difference. Also, they have a program where they subsidize your insurance co-pay. Ours were 'free', and the Epi-pens would have been about $100 out of pocket. Check out their site for more info.

I remember being told long ago not to put my Epi in a pocket because with body heat it would get too warm. Do they still recommend this? I can see big cargo pants pockets that are away from the body being a different temperature than front or back pockets.
Acorn Island
We were told by our allergist that Epi pens and Auvi Q's are ok at 'body temperature'. They are not ok in extreme heat and cold. My child has carried an Auvi-Q in the front pocket of their jeans for years. No breakdown in the product, no concerns from the allergist. The important thing is that the epinephrine is carried. Having it in a smaller container like the Auvi-Q has resulted in a greater willingness to carry it at all times.
