lewelma
Yesterday morning I walked into the lounge to find my older boy listening to his multivariate calculus lectures at *triple* speed while concurrently plucking a tune on his violin. I could not understand any words at all from the lecture. "Oh," he said, "that's because the professor has a strong French accent. It helps me focus." Tell me your recent surprises.
chocolate-chip chooky
I love that story. It's not quite the same, but I was surprised when my daughter (12) took her home-made Korean flashcards with her while doing junkmail delivery with her sister. She was reciting things, lecturing her sister, quizzing her sister etc. She was being very intense about it all and having a glorious time; fully animated and physically bouncy. The residents must think she's got a big exam coming up or that I'm a crack-the-whip tigermum type. Nope. Neither of these. She just loves learning Korean. And when she's learning what she loves, she's at her happiest. I should learn not to be surprised by these sorts of things.
