dirty ethel rackham
Dd went to an admitted student's day at one of her choices. The visit went great. She'd really like to go to this school. But, the scholarship is a little less than we had hoped (good scholarship, but it is an expensive school.) So, she and dh visited the admissions office with the stellar scholarship from another school to negotiate for more $$. Dd did all the talking. The admissions counselor was so impressed because she usually hears from the parents, not the students. This was hard for her (as it would be for me.) But, alas. No more funds to be had. :-( 13

GailV
Good for her! I'm so sorry it didn't translate into more funds this time, but what an amazing skill to have for the future!
JanetC
I'm sorry that she couldn't get more aid. You've clearly raised a kid who's ready to be off on her own at whichever school is smart enough to do what it takes to recruit her.
Chris in VA
I think it's so cool when our daughters become capable and find their voices that way! Yay!! It's a skill that will help her in the future. And kudos to you, DER, for not stepping (verbally) in and for letting her handle it.

Kareni
Brag away, Ellen! She sounds like a fine young woman, and I wish her well wherever she goes to college. Regards, Kareni
daijobu
Congratulations to her for stepping up. You'll never know the answer unless you ask. Better to know than to always wonder whether more money would have been available. Plus if you get in the habit of asking, you're more likely to get a yes in the future.
