caedmyn
My 6th grader is a bit clueless in this area and I'm not having much luck explaining it to her (not to mention I mostly intuited how to study...and that was a long time ago...so I'm not great at even knowing WHAT to try to explain). She tends to have trouble even figuring out answers for fill-in-the-blank questions unless they're really straightforward...which adds to her difficult with test-taking...so maybe she needs to work on that too. I'm the complete opposite in that area and I have no idea how to help her.
underthebridge
Critical Thinking Company has a book called Thinking Skills for Tests. Has anyone tried it? https://www.criticalthinking.com/thinking-skills-for-tests-upper-elementary.html

Has anyone tried it? https://www.criticalthinking.com/thinking-skills-for-tests-upper-elementary.html I'm not sure what kind of test taking the OP is referring to. Math tests, spelling test, vocab, standardized testing? We didn't use Thinking Skills for Tests, but I had my boys do CTC's Building Thinking Skills Levels 1 and 2. I don't plan to use anymore of them, but they were good through 6th grade. If the OP is talking about standardized test taking, I just grab some spectrum test practice books for that. JudoMom
It's not a workbook, but it has exercises throughout and is my favorite book on the subject: What Smart Students Know: Maximum Grades. Optimum Learning. Minimum Time. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0517880857/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_eXqSAbC9Q0EX7 Also, the 2nd edition of The Great Courses Super Star Student is good.
