Laura Corin
I'm getting very frustrated. The brands that make specific shoes for wide feet don't ship to the UK (apart from New Balance which doesn't seem to give me good support). Any suggestions of shoes that run wide? These are for every day walking, taking in rough paths, but must be Gore-Tex or equivalent. My feet are wider at the toes than at the ball of the feet and I'm tired of being squashed! I spent yesterday in a specialist shop and didn't find anything.

I spent yesterday in a specialist shop and didn't find anything. I've got wide toes and a narrow heel. Did you try on Brasher's? They're supposed to run wide in the toe. I don't wear mine any more because my feet seem to have changed shape and they're a bit small. I also like super cheap Regatta waking boots because they're wide but they're not super durable. I also have waterproof UGG leather boots that are so comfy. They're quite solid and wide in the toe. I thought they'd be too soft and soggy but they fit so well and you could add an insole for extra support.
Bambam
I have a pair of Merrell's hiking shoes - I didn't get the waterproof ones but they do have them. I also have wide feet. Pros - comfortable, long-lasting, wide enough, good support. Cons - sorta pricey ($100) and I had to size up (usually wear an 8.5, but I have to wear a 9 in Merrells).
bibiche
.Ahnu makes hiking shoes that should meet your requirements. Have you looked at Mephistos? They have a wide toe box and good support.
Carol in Cal.
Salomon trail runners are like that. Some are waterproof, and they all have wide toe boxes.
Mama Geek
I have a really wide toe box that Merrill and Salomon didn't work for...Oboz is what I ended up going with.
Laura Corin
Salomon trail runners are like that. Some are waterproof, and they all have wide toe boxes. My current shoes are Salomon trail runners. I might try sizing up half a size as I am now using custom orthotics. I just came back from wandering around Edinburgh for the day and my little toe is sore.
Pawz4me
I usually need a wide width, even in New Balance. But I can wear Merrell regular width.

There's a local shop that might carry these - I'll go in tomorrow and see. Thanks!
PeterPan
I'm not sure you'll find them in Goretex or hiking boots, but have you looked into zero-drop shoes? If you don't need the overall shoe wide, only the toes, then zero-drop, which tend to have naturalistic (wide) toe areas would work. I wear Altra shoes, love love. I'm so not a pointy toed, narrow toed kinda woman, lol.
Pen
If New Balance would work other than support, could you put in your own supportive insoles? (I assume you mean foot support, not customer support.) I like Spenco insoles with high arches as supportive and not too expensive, but there are also more expensive (like even $100US or so a pair insoles) that some people swear by. I think some runners just automatically get rid of the factory insole and put in their own upgraded ones. My son is having some similar wide foot problems and even though we are in US, finding shoes that are good for cross country and track and field and fit his wide feet well is a struggle. He's currently wearing Brooks which do make a waterproof model. Possibly a men's would be wide enough for you though they don't come in wide like NB, and I have no idea about availability in Scotland. My ds used to wear NB though, and may return to those since the Brooks are which is his teams official shoe are a little narrow on him, but I also have wide feet for a woman, and his men's shoes look like they'd be wide enough for me. Not for running, but I've been quite comfortable in Teva ankle boots bought a size too long to make up for them not coming in a wide width. I'm not sure what they are made of but I have ones that look and feel like suede but are very waterproof (I live in the wet part of Oregon in the country). The suede sort of stretched to give me decent room where I needed it. These also look okay for going into town. Rather ugly, but for me quite comfortable and wide are boots by a company called S.W.A.T. I don't know if all models are waterproof, but some definitely are since both my ds and I have a pair, which are different from each other, but both waterproof. They have laces which can be adjusted to make the boot fit comfortably, then tied, and then a side zipper can be used so as not to have to keep tying them. Like many hiking boots they took a little breaking in before their leather got soft enough to be really comfortable. Keene's come with wide toe boxes, but I am not sure about waterproof ones. Probably some models are.

Pen
Have you ever tried the type of shoes that have a separate slot for each toe? I have a pair that really help my feet a lot when experiencing certain types of pain, but I am not sure about them being waterproof since I have only used them in summer. BTW: I have a possibly broken toe on one foot right now and am wearing the S.W.A.T. boots (mine are "Original" leather) with an added Spenco support insole most of the time when not keeping it barefoot or in a fleece slipper. We originally found my son's (air cushion style, lighter weight materials, and easier to break in) at a local outdoors outfitter shop, recommended by our salesperson as the most comfortable for hiking and being on feet working all day that he himself used. Then I got mine through Amazon.
SparklyUnicorn
Well, if I can help you out in any way with shipping something to you, let me know. I don't have a recommendation though.
Pen
We just were shoe shopping for ds and best seemed to be Altra in terms of the wide front/toe box and they ahve waterproofish ones ("neo"). However he found the zero-drop (Lower heel position) hard to get used to. They didn't have his size at store, so manufacturer is shipping to us direct.
