Anyone have a great chicken pho soup recipe?

Recommended Posts

My kids love pho, but I haven't had great luck in reproducing it at home. Any recipes that I should try?

Have you used clove, cinammon, and star of anise in the past to flavor the broth? I've found that anise seeds are a good and less expensive sub for the stars.

We make this yummy Thai iced tea that goes well with Pho. My kids LOVE this drink. I usually order them together when eating at a Vietnamese shop. Sooo good: http://whiteonricecouple.com/recipes/thai-tea-recipe/

I halve the sugar and use canned coconut milk in place of the cream.

Yes! You'd have to tweak it some if you don't have an IP though.

I've not heard of this, thank you!

I don't know how to link, but we like to make a modified version of the one at Smitten Kitchen. The main thing is to put garlic and ginger in the broth.

I will look that one up!

Right now, my kids' favorite pho soup is served at a Thai place :)

I use chicken or beef broth and add things ... fresh ginger, lemongrass, basil, jalapeño and star anise. There are star anise teabags made by Badia that work well. Everything else needs to be fresh.
