Meaning, if you are following the 4-year history cycle, how do you list them and then what literature matches up with those years? So, for example, World Literature matches up with what history year? British Literature would go with year 3? Or year 2? American Literature with year 4, etc? Then for the history year 1 is called ?? Year 2? World History, American History, etc. I just don't know how to label them and can't find the help for that in the WTM book. Also anyone do a year of Geography? Posted February 12, 2018 Share Posted February 12, 2018 (edited) re: Geography We did not do a year of Geography in high school, but if you do, just list the course, along with amount of credit and grade earned, along with your other Social Studies coursework under a heading of "Social Studies" or "Social Sciences" on the transcript: SOCIAL STUDIES course . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . credit . . . grade History: Ancient World . . . 1.0 . . . . x History: Medieval World . . 1.0 . . . . x History: American . . . . . . . 1.0 . . . . x History: Modern World . . . 1.0 . . . . x Geography . . . . . . . . . . . . .1.0 . . . . x Government . . . . . . . . . . . .0.5 . . . . x Economics . . . . . . . . . . . . .0.5 . . . . x Logic . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.5 . . . . x Philosophy . . . . . . . . . . . . .0.5 . . . . x total credits/GPA . . . . . . . . . . . . 7.0 . . . . . x.xxxx We did not do integrated History/Lit courses, which may or may not do best with special names -- probably depends on what major and what college the student will be applying to. ;) Mostly, I lean towards keeping course titles very straightforward and traditional, to help college admissions offices very quickly and easily see that the student IS fulfilling their eligibility requirements. Explanations of how the course is different tend to work better in a paragraph in the separate course description document, rather than trying to make the very short course title on the transcript reflect how the course is different. However, some years, our Lit. did match up with our History time period, but even when it did, I still just went with one of these very simple traditional course title, which implies that you covered what high school English classes traditional cover, which is a mix of Literature AND Composition in each year: English I . . or . . English 9 English II . . or . . English 10 English III . . or . . English 11 English IV . . or . . English 12 If desired, you can add a "sub-title" to those, and list whatever was the major type of Lit. covered that year. Example: English I: Ancient World Literature English II: Medieval World Literature English III: American Literature English IV: British Literature Or, use more general headings that encompass the major type of Lit. covered. Example: English 9: Intro to Lit. & Comp. English 10: Intermediate Lit. & Comp. English 11: World & American Lit. English IV: World & British Lit. If your integrated History and Lit. were too entwined, you could just list with very simple course headings, and then explain in the course description document what was covered and that each year's study was 2 credits (1 each for English and History) of work.
