REI shoes and returns?

Recommended Posts

I need to replace my beloved Land’s End All Weather Mocs that I’ve beennwearing for over a decade (and will continue to use as yard-work shoes). REI has Merrils on sale. It’s free to ship them to the store. I’m just not sure about the size. Would it be bad to ship two pair to the store and return one or both there if they don’t work? I don’t generally buy shoes online because I like to try them on and hate mailing things if there’s a return. Will they hate me? Let me do it?

REI will let you do anything you want. Seriously. You can order a pair of shoes, wear them out in the mud for three months, and take them back without a box or a receipt. They will ask no questions and will give you a full refund. I recommend paying the one-time $20.00 membership fee if you haven't already done this, because maybe what I'm saying only applies to members, but I'm not sure. If you are a member, they can quickly look up any purchases you have made in the past and give you an exchange or refund. Another good reason to be a member is that you get a dividend check back in the mail in March of every year for all the purchases you made at REI during that year. It's awesome. REI is one of the last remaining good places to buy quality stuff, imo.

You could also order more than one pair of shoes online from Zappos. Their returns are easy and their customer service is great. But you can't wear them in the mud hiking and expect a refund, lol. Only REI does that. I love it because you can truly see what type of shoes work best by giving them a real test, not just walking around in your kitchen.

I've returned worn and washed socks to REI for a full refund. No packaging, receipt, etc. They were fitting so tightly and were causing a bit of pain around the ball of the foot, believe it or not.  REI is great.

I love my Merrell Jungle Mocs.  Luckily I was able to buy the first pair in store and then I just get the same size over and over. For me, they ended up being the same size I wear in most of the shoes I wear. (8 US)

FWIW, I thought I saw that Lands End had brought back the all-weather moc.

They did what? I used to be able to call and talk to a person at Land’s End. I’d heard the shoes weren’t the same after Sears took over and I do not like Sears’ customer service orvthe interest rate on their store card. I don’t even HAVE a Sears card and their rate offends me.
