pocjets
We have 8 kids and I’m about to start teaching Kindergarten for the 6th time. Anything new I should consider/think about? We normally do Horizons for math, 100 Easy Lessons, ETC, handwriting.
2_girls_mommy
Not new, but I and my kids loved the R&S ABC preschool series workbooks. They will give you some social studies, crafty stuff, sciency stuff and reinforce your math and some phenomic awareness, and add in Bible. Very sweet. I can't wait to start them again. My last two loved them.
homemommy83
The Reading Lesson is a newer great primer for K, but I also love TYCTRin100EL. Also My Fathers World K is also fabulous, but with 8 children what I love the most (the unit study of science/Bible) would rarely get completed due to time teaching older children. I have 6 and if I had the time MFWK in its entirety is what I would do for K, every time I talk about it I think maybe I could find the extra hour daily-please somewhere-lol. I loved MFW with my oldest. To be bluntly honest I think your choices are spot on! You could alternate math with a thinking skills book and adding a craft book to practice cutting/pasting/gluing would hit some commonly overlooked skills. mykidsrmyjoy
My daughter and I really enjoyed the new CLE Kindergarten books.(Actually, the workbooks have been published for a few years but the TG is new and adds more meat to the program. )
calihil
Maybe look into Science Shepherd Introductory Science? I'm going to do it with my kids next year and I know my son who will be in K will love it... Edited December 30, 2017 by calihil
pocjets
Thank you all! I’ll look into the R and S and CLE books. I also love the thinking skills book idea and cutting and pasting books. I knew I could find some good ideas here!!

I did The Reading Lesson right after doing these. I didn't have the manual, but would get it next time. I would love to see a KI. lexi
My K kids like doing Lollipop Logic with me. Memoria Press has a K Enrichment book. It has great book choices. Next year I’ll be teaching K for the 5th time. Some stuff gets old even if it’s working great. Sigh...
prairiewindmomma
We're gearing up for our 5th round of K also. I like Kumon's cutting and pasting books. I am also adding a dot to dot book (smooth motor control with a pencil plus drilling alphabet and numbers) and I highly recommend Developing the Early Learner (all 4 workbooks).
goldenecho
I don't know what you've used for handwriting before but if you did Handwriting Without Tears for printing...you should know that ProgressivePhonics.com has free handwriting printouts that have similar letter formations. Prairie Dawn
Those using CLE kindergarten, do you use the workbooks, activity books, or both?
homemommy83
Those using CLE kindergarten, do you use the workbooks, activity books, or both? BOTH- The activity books work on all types of preschool skills outside of letter and number sense. Brenda
