Does anyone use workbooks?

Recommended Posts

My DD5 is going through them so fast. We have done SchoolZone prek and kindergarten ones.

I found Evan Moor a large kindergarten one with 300 activities yesterday. She has already done 25 of them.

Any suggestions on workbooks?

My 5yo (almost 6yo) LOVES workbooks.  He's done a ton of stuff from Evan-Moor: Daily Science, Daily Geography, Language Fundamentals, Draw Then Write, and Read and Understand Folktales and Fables, bits from U.S. Facts and Fun.  He liked the practice pages from MEP quite a bit.  He enjoyed the first couple workbooks from Handwritng Without Tears.  He's done many Stick Kids workbooks: money, time, addition, subtraction, word wizard, multiplication and division.  I found a "Singapore" math workbook at Costco (not by the real SM publisher, but same general stuff) that he devoured.  His favorites were probably E-M Daily Science and Daily Geography.

Look at:

CLE Kinder I and II sets

R&S ABC wkbks

Get Ready, Get Set, Go for the Code

Kumon wkbks

Singapore Essential Math

My dd LOVED wkbks when she was young, too.

I love workbooks for these early years and have used them with each of my kids.  The ones mentioned are great, plus Developing the Early Learner and Memoria Press Alphabet Books, Number Books, and Numbers and Colors.

I love the Kumon series. It’s great for handwriting practice. The ones recommended for MP Jr. K are really great too. Color by numbers are great too.

Thanks for the responses.

I started her early on Horizon Math K in mid-January. She is already about 1/2 way through the first workbook. It's a lot of tracing and writing (for her) but it slowed her down a bit.

She wants to learn cursive and I will be ordering Logic of English writing program this week or next.

Basically I started kindergarten work early with her because she needs it.

I was thinking, a good place to get workbooks is Costco and Sams club. Also used book stores are filled with workbooks never even started.

My DD5 loves workbooks. She's working through the Brainquest K one right now. She also likes Kumon. I hadn't thought of the Evan Moore ones. I used those when DD9 was 1st/2nd, I might see if DD5 likes them!
