yvonne
On a transcript, I wrote: Unweighted GPA: X.XX on a scale of 0.0 to 4.0 Weighted GPA: Y.YY on a scale of 0.0 to 5.0 Should I have left off the "on a scale of..." for both? I explain in a note below on the transcript that AP classes were weighted 1.0 points and "Honors" classes 0.5 points. And, on the Common App, it asks what scale you use. I already uploaded one son's transcript, so I can't do anything about that. But now I'm wondering if I should change it for my other son. Or does it even matter?! OnMyOwn
I think it will be fine either way. :)
Reefgazer
How much would you weight a college class?
teachermom2834
Standard weighting around my region and the out of state schools my dc have applied to has been a half quality point for honors and a whole point for college classes. So an A in an honors class would be 4.5 and an A in a college class would be 5.0 quality points figured in the GPA.
katilac
I left it out and simply put weighted and unweighted GPA.
Sebastian (a lady)
I left off the scale, although there was a question on the common app that specified scale. I left the scale at 4.0 because it wasn't possible to actually get to 5.0 since not every class could be weighted. I don't know how a school answers this. I also think it is a pretty minor point as long as it is clear what you weighted and why and how.
lewelma
Hugs to you. Last year's effort to get all the paperwork is still fresh in my mind. It felt like I was building a house. Each decision was small (what doornobs, molding, etc) but yet, the decisions still have to be made. And there were a LOT of decisions! Good luck! JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
At the top of the transcript I listed both weighted and unweighted GPA. On the back I and in my counselor documents I explained how I defined weighting. I'm sure any answer will be fine as long as you explain what happened.
8filltheheart
Many schools recalculate GPA based on their own methodologies. It is fine.
yvonne
It isn't that hard to calculate on your own, but here are a couple of the gpa calculator sites I found & used, in case they're useful to anyone else.
