Algebra recommendations

PS -- You did ask what people used and why ;) :


DS#1 was my math-minded guy, and he really enjoyed Jacobs Algebra 1 in 8th grade (after going through Singapore Primary in elementary/early middle school grades, and the first half of Singapore New Elementary Math 1 in 7th grade). He liked the Mastery-based, incremental aspect of Jacobs, but especially that there was a real-life application for each topic, plus the sense of humor that popped up every so often in the word problems.



If you have a student who prefers video lessons, you might check out Teaching Textbooks, Chalkdust, or VideoText.
