Parabola
Yeah, he wrote all the earlier GOOD episodes. After he quit writing them, it turned into a big soap opera. Blah.

I read a couple of his books many moons ago, though they're not my style. Cancer, huh? Sigh.... What a dreadful disease it is. :001_unsure:
Sebastian (a lady)
I'm so sad. He was among my fave sci fi writers. He'll be missed. Oh, it will be hard to not get another of his books every few years. I loved State of Fear. I actually laughed through most of it; it was so spot on. Almost makes me glad that I've never gotten around to his earlier books (say anything before Rising Sun). It will give me something to console myself with. Jenny in Atl
I think the The Andromeda Strain was one of the first "adult" bks I read. Loved his earlier work. He and Mr Hillerman will be missed.
cin
And Tony Hillerman died last week. :crying: He wrote such cool books. A rather unique genre, If I am thinking of the right person.
unsinkable
:crying: He wrote such cool books. A rather unique genre, If I am thinking of the right person. Are you thinking of the man who wrote mysteries set in the American SW with Navaho Tribal Policemen Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn? http://www.dancingbadger.com/tony_hillerman.htm
Happy
The Andromeda Strain made me think back in my teenaged days. No small feat. ;) My favorite of his books is Jurassic Park. Imagination mixed with science is a wonderful thing. He will be missed.
Christy B
I enjoyed many of his books as well. I have to admit a lot of the science-y stuff was over my head, but a good writer can carry the story even if their audience isn't as knowledgeable. Sometimes I regret that I have not taken the time to write authors whose books really make an impression on me, you know? I mean, I know they are rewarded by book sales, but I would think that as a writer, hearing from readers would be the best reward.
