Jean in Newcastle
Dd would like to follow biology with Anatomy and Physiology. What is out there? We would prefer to stay away from Apologia (though I know that they have an A & P book). And we would prefer to study on our own - ie. not to take a co-op or online course. Any suggestions? Jean in Newcastle
Coming back to say that I am starting to look at the suggestions in this thread http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/399419-anatomy-and-physiology-recommendations/ but don't know if there are new things out there as well. I notice, for instance that the link for Kolbe no longer works.
HollyDay
BJU does a good job with A/P but it is wrapped into their Biology book. They used to be in 2 books, but now just 1 biology book. They are in their 5th publishing now. But, the 3rd edition is 2 books not one. Maybe get a look at 3rd edition, I think it was vol 2 (been a few years since we used it) that covered A/P.
8filltheheart
The Sanders book in that older link was excellent. I would look for a newer edition of the book/workbook.
Saddlemomma
GCP has a course called Understanding the Human Body: An Introduction to Anatomy & Physiology, 2E. This is what we will be using when DD finishes Chemistry & Biology. I plan to pair it with the following books: Atlas of Human Anatomy (suggested by the course professor) Human Anatomy & Physiology I may also get her an anatomy coloring book and flash cards when the time arrives. Anyway, just an idea for you.
pinkelement
I know that the OP said they prefer self study, but just in case I want to mention this online course that intrigued us very much. http://hscollegebound.com/Anatomy.htm We have no personal experience with it at all, but my daughter wants to try it next year.
