Piper
So what is with the trend of wearing open-side tanks with **nothing** on underneath?? Am I just a prude or is this the kind of thing that really should stay in the bedroom - or at least in the house? I was at a bookstore the other day, and a young woman went by in one of those "tank" tops...let's just say that that was *not* the type of books I went there to find!!! I was just so grateful my kids weren't with me. :svengo: Edited August 30, 2017 by Piper
JustEm
I haven't seen this. I see tons of open side tanks with a sorts bra underneath
Guest
I have seen people wear these with a bra visible. I am not a fan of that, personally, but I haven't seen anyone wear it with no bra.
Word Nerd
I don't think that is a trend--at least not one I've seen.
Jean in Newcastle
Not a trend that I have seen. And it sounds like you've only seen it once? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
maize
I have seen them worn without bras as OP describes. I assume the wearers are intentionally being edgy as this does go against standard dress norms in our society. I personally wish the overall hypersexualization of the female breast would go away, in which case clothing choices like this wouldn't matter much one way or another.
Murphy101
lol I just discussed with my SON that I don't think those basketball tank shirts should be worn by men unless they are at the gym. I think it looks... idk... gross? Slovenly? I put it up there with wife beater shirts and baggy to the knees pants of clothing I detest.
Rachel
It was the style in the late 80s or early 90s and seems to be back.
wonderchica
I have only seen them with bras or bralettes underneath. There's one in every crowd, though...
Rachel
Wait, you mean without a bra?
bolt.
Is it possible that there was a skin-tone layer underneath? Or was the view really that clear?
Megbo
Could you see enough to know that she wasn't wearing a stick-on bra? I love this kind of tank for working out, but with full-coverage sports bra underneath.
Bluegoat
I have not seen this, but it seems like it would go well with the butt-cheecks out trend.

Excelsior! Academy
Is this the kind marketed with a "shelf bra"? They often have spaghetti straps and are meant for layering.
Elizabeth86
Why cant visualize this?
SKL
I have not noticed this around me, thank goodness.

Could you see enough to know that she wasn't wearing a stick-on bra? Oh yes, it was quite obvious that she was not wearing anything - skin tone or stick on - underneath. *Very* little was left to the imagination. I'm glad to hear that many have not seen this around them.
bettyandbob
Have you heard the phrase "tasteful side boob." I've heard my DD say that in joking tones. When asked, she explained that it is a phrase that is used to describe similar exposure. If the phrase exists, I guess there's a trend. I've seen this a couple times, but not a lot.

I looked that up. The images I saw weren't very tasteful, in my opinion. :-)
MercyA
If you are a prude, so am I. :) I don't think that kind of thing is appropriate for public wear. Edited August 31, 2017 by MercyA

Hikin' Mama
I have only seen such tanks at the gym with a sports bra underneath. And not even very many there. The men at the gym do like to sport these, though, sans bra. 😜

It was appropriate for him but not her?
