Jen500
The dress is one fabric, 96% cotton, 4% elastane, hidden zipper. I've never dyed any clothing. Can I dye it a light blue or any other color? Any tips? TIA
Lawana
The fabric should dye easily. The thread is very likely polyester and won't dye the same as the fabric. How involved are you willing to get? There are dyes that do dye polyester, but require more intense handling, I.e. Boiling in a pan on the stove.

6packofun
I agree with Lawana. The thread will probably not dye the same but if there isn't a ton of stitching you may not care. We dyed a white dress a peach-pink for my dd by mixing colors and the thread wasn't *too* noticeable but it wasn't what we'd expected.
Jen500
Ah, I forgot about the thread! I don't really want to do anything complicated. The exposed stitching is around the armholes and a seam across the front...though it's just a casual dress so maybe a light colored dye would be ok? Finally found a dress that fits and I love it but I don't love white!
wendyroo
Generally I am pretty crafty, but dye has always been my nemesis. No matter how carefully I follow instructions, the fabric always ends up a bit splotchy. Occasionally it is very splotchy - almost a variegated, tie dye look, but most of the time it is just subtle, patchy variations in the color that catch my attention and drive me nuts. The larger the object I am dying, the more likely I experience issues. Wendy
justasque
Dharma Trading is the best place to purchase all things dye. They have professional dyes and other supplies at reasonable prices. Or you could go the RIT route; Dharma will have a much wider range of colors.
