My 7th grader used half of it this year (we were also doing a co-op history class), and he really liked it. It is the hardest of the three middle school options from Notgrass, but they have a chart in the front of the book that suggests what to include and what to leave out for different ages. It's probably in the sample pages on their site.

We don't always use the writing/literature in the same way. My son always does the text, questions, tests, maps, timelines, etc. But he reads probably only half of the literature, and he doesn't do the writing.
