You should all be proud of me--I gave away 8 books this week!

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble letting things go, but I gave away my Hillsdale Academy binder and the complete CM set, along with a paper airplane book. I think I deserve a medal!

I bought 2. :). But I think we're on the other side of the homeschooling journey.

I've always been this way regardless of education involvement, but my daughter seems to have caught the bug - several times lately she's come home from school with an armload of books they're getting rid of. Plus some other supplies, including an old set of Cuisenaire fraction tiles!

Wow! You really raised that girl right! Would that my children do this for me some day :)

Here ya go!  And, when you're done, could you please come to my house?  DD is a freshman and I really should start off-loading elementary curriculum (but she tutors!, the little voice inside my head whispers...).

Sigh.  My name is JoJosMom and I am a curriculum hoarder.

I gave away 4 boxes at CHEC last year. I walked in, found some helpful-looking young men in the curr sale and asked them to follow me. And then I loaded them up! Yeah, I could sell them, but it was just too much hassle. Same way with ds's trumpet. I called the band teacher to put it on the for sale list, and then noticed a friend was collecting band instruments for an orphanage in South Africa. Boom! Gone, including some very nice mutes.

I gave away a bookcase this morning!!

I should mention that I first found the bookcase (free!) at a yard sale earlier in the morning and dragged it home. After looking through all the rooms in the house, I realized there was NO three foot wide section of wall where I could put it. (I flirted w/ the idea of putting it in my dh's office where there's plenty of space, begging for bookshelves! It was a very brief flirtation.)   So, I got back in the car and returned the bookcase to the yard sale. (I was very relieved that there was still nobody there when I very quickly dragged it back out of my car. The owner had just left a bunch of items out in his driveway w/ an "Everything Free" sign so I didn't see him when I picked it up, either.)

But that still counts as decluttering, right?  I get a medal, right?  :smilielol5:

Well, this may just be the inspiration I need to finally donate those two big bags of books I've had riding around in the back of the van for months. I just have to avert my eyes when doing so, to prevent last minute changes of mind. (It's so haaaard to say goodbye to yesterday.)

P.S. You didn't reward yourself with 8 new books, did you, not that I know anyone who would do something like that?

I did buy the new Joel Rosenberg the other day, but I read it, reread the two books before it, and they're waiting to get shipped off to dd! She has a three bedroom house, right? She has LOTS of room!
