Jackie in AR Posted October 27, 2008 Share Posted October 27, 2008 This is a campus that we're on frequently, and drive by several times per week. My first reaction when I heard the news wasn't shock or outrage. I'm not nervous about driving around town later today, even though the gunman hasn't been apprehended at this time. I am sad to say that I think I've become desensitized to the senseless killings on our campuses in this country. I went to college in the town here in Arkansas where the Westside school shootings happened about a decade ago. (I actually lived in another state when those killings happened.) I knew one of the teachers who was shot (she was the one who survived). I was stunned beyond belief when that happened. Today's news in my own town just seems like another day around here. We send our kids away to college, hoping that they'll be safe, but then something like this happens! I'll be praying for the families. I'm sure this is a complete shock to the residents of your town.
