Melissa in Australia
HI guys Dh and I are going to our son's graduation ceremony in a few weeks. I have never been to one. What do the parents wear? formal as in suites for men and gowns for women?? or casual? thank you so much for your advice.

G5052
The graduations in our area are generally more informal. Because of the climate here, they are also HOT. So here at least, a shirt and tie is the minimum for guys, and a dress for the ladies. I have a sleeveless dress for one graduation because it's at the basketball arena and will be uncomfortable. I used to attend that one as a faculty member, and it was miserable in the academic regalia. The other one is in a church, and for that one I have a maroon lace dress. Both are dresses that I also wear to church.
bettyandbob
I'm wearing a skirt and blouse to my ds'. Dh is wearing khakis and a button down shirt. I'm sure some people will wear polo shirts.
HomeAgain
I'm wearing a light dress, my boys are wearing button down shirts and slacks. Around here they call it church attire.
Big Buckin' Longhorn
Here people wear flip flops, sequined gowns, and everything in between. Whatever you want your photographs/memories to look like. Congrats!
bolt.
I'd aim for "church like clothes" -- nicely put together, but not fancy or ostentatious.
KatieJ
Our ceremonies are held in the football stadium or in the gym if bad weather. We dressed nicely, but no dresses or suit coats.
