MistyMountain
Is placing in Math in Focus the same as Signapore? I could not find placement tests for Math in Focus like Signapore math has. I think I will stick with Signapore for my ds but I am considering MIF for my older dd since it is a little more incremental. SilverMoon
I think it is. My DD went from one grade of MiF to the next of SM without any problems. MiF does have smaller steps or less leaps.
fralala
If you Google "Math in Focus placement test," you will find the placement tests. (I have no idea how to access this from the hmhco website. These tests give scoring information at the bottom with the answers-- for instance, the one I gave said that if you got more than 80 points out of 100, you could go up to the next level. FWIW, yes, the level of MIF that I tested for did seem to cover exactly the same material as that level of SM.)
