stephanier.1765
If your pet has flea protection but is exposed to another animal with fleas, is it possible for a flea from that animal to jump to your animal and infect yours with worms? Please say no.
Lady Florida.
Do you mean tapeworms? Those are the only worms an animal will get from fleas, and they'll only get them if the flea itself is infected. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/tapeworm-infection-in-dogs
stephanier.1765
Thank you. My son's GF sometimes brings her dog over and even though she does her best against fleas, her parents do not treat the other animals in their home so fleas occassionally ride her dog over to my house. I really don't want to tell her she can't bring the dog but I was worried about the health of my own animals. Mine are all treated against fleas. It was what I can't control that had me concerned. ETA: Yes I meant tapeworms. Edited February 22, 2017 by slr1765
ktgrok
It's unlikely. That flea would have to be infected and your dog would have to eat it.
