He was 89. The tweet by the Nijntje Museum was quite appropriate (see link below). My wife's quip "I hope nobody is miffed about that", was not. Dick Bruna and Nijntje were very famous in NL, and was translated into over 50 languages. When I was little I even named my first and favorite stuffed animal (a bunny) Pluis, which was Nijntje's last name.

I only just ordered a couple of nijntje books for my new grandson. I hadn't heard of them before, but read that the author was well known etc. just after I ordered them I went in my Facebook and there was a post about the author having died. Very sad. 😢I will enjoy reading my nijntje books to my grandson, I'm sure they'll be favourites. 😊

We love Miffy so so much. We learned a lot of Danish watching Miffy og Hendes Venner (Miffy and Her Friends). Two stuffed Miffys (she is Miffy to us) currently live in our apartment, and one of the highlights of an Amsterdam trip was the Nijntje store. Dick Bruna made the world a better place.
