MyLife
I've heard several people mention that they do not like the writing portion of Shurley English. Why is this?
knitgrl
We've only had experience with Shurley 1. We liked the jingles and it was a great introduction to grammar, but there are two reasons why I didn't like the writing portion. First, the amount of writing they expected a first grader to do was INSANE. Secondly, I found the quality of writing in the examples to be less than stellar and kind of boring. Creekside5
I always skip the writing portion. There are so many better curriculum's out there for writing. It is dry and doesn't teach writing well. I am a huge Shurley fan though! Encourage your kiddos to write their own jingles to common tunes. We had a lot of fun doing that. MyLife
Thanks for your thoughts. We haven't had any issues with writing (yet). I was just curious why others thought this.
