College board accommodations?

My son is a junior in high school and has Crohns.

He is going to need to take bathroom breaks as needed and sometimes frequently during the SAT.

Is there a specific department I need to contact? Will a note from Doctor be sufficient?

He's not been feeling well lately and I'm beginning to worry.

My 15.5 yr old daughter has Crohn's and we just went through this for the October test date. You have to contact the College Board SSD department - https://www.collegeboard.org/students-with-disabilities?excmpid=VT-00009

If you have questions or need anything, let me know. We had to submit a lot of paperwork and get letters from the doctor, but it's do-able.

Good luck!

All the paperwork in online on the College Board website. Start there under the students with disabilities and see what they are asking for. Beware it takes many weeks to get approved.

It was months for us. But once I talked to a few people I got the exact documentation they wanted and got approved.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone!!

He had been feeling well for several months so accommodations never occurred to me. Then things started to backslide and I had a freak out moment.

I checked deadlines and we should be fine. Phew.

It takes awhile for collegeboard to get back after you make the request and send documentation.

You may have seen this on the College Board site already, but apparently they have just (as of this month) introduced a streamlined approach to accommodations for students with an IEP or a 504 plan or, if in private school, a formalised plan for accommodation. Not sure this would apply in your son's case, but point it out just in case it does.
