Can I bake a cake at 300 even though it's supposed to be 350?

We just have one oven and this is the only way I can figure out how to work it for our company tonight!  (So I can bake the dinner and cake at the same time.)

I bake cakes-- fancy cakes too-- and I ALWAYS bake lower than 350F!

I usually go for 325F.. but 300 would work too, it will just take longer.


Baking at a lower temp will help the cake to bake more level-- it may make it a bit more dense (and usually more moist!).


Oh okay, good to know!!  I ended up baking the cake after dinner instead, but will remember this for the future.  Thanks!
