Looking for a travel agent

Minimum requirement: MUST BE accredited by ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents).  If not, run, and run very fast.

 

If the state you live in licenses Travel Agencies (I think CA and FL are among  states do that) be sure they have a registration number from your state.

If you are going to go on a Cruise, I would suggest someone like my Cousin in CA who has been doing that for *many* years.  If you are going to Disney, get someone like Stacey who concentrates on that. If you just need airline reservations and/or hotel reservations, I would suggest you do that yourself, using an OTA (Online Travel Agency, like Expedia and many others). Or, that you book the airline reservations directly on the web site of the airline you choose to go on.  If you book airline reservations via a travel agent and then you need to change something (your phone number, etc.) and you call the airline reservations office, they will tell you to call your travel agent. They do that, because you are "the customer" of the travel agency and not of the airline.
