zoobie
A dear friend's daughter will be celebrating her bat mitzvah soon. We live far away and won't be attending. I would like to send a meaningful, thoughtful gift. I know cash in multiples of 18 is traditional, and I would do that if we were attending. This is more a thinking-of-you-and-wishing-you-the-best gesture. :) Any ideas?
happi duck
Flowers delivered? A gift card of $18 or $36 etc? A cute coin purse with $18 inside? (I'd be fine with cash sent within a package as opposed to just an envelope.)
JennyD
A book is always a nice gift. What are her interests?
zoobie
A book is always a nice gift. What are her interests? Swimming and running. She got an Owl Crate subscription for Hanukkah and flipped. She's a voracious reader, so I don't know what she has and hasn't already read. Ailaena
A Hamsa or chai necklace? I don't know why I always go for jewelry. Maybe because it seems adulty, or something.
zoobie
Shameless, self promoting bump... Any more ideas?
Kareni
We've attended a couple of bat mitzvahs. For one art loving young woman, we gave a gift of 18 art pencils. For the daughter of another friend, we gave 18 candy bars. Regards, Kareni
YaelAldrich
Jewelry or a nice Jewish book. Maybe https://www.amazon.com/Jewish-Women-Speak-About-Matters/dp/1568711514/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483673317&sr=8-1&keywords=jewish+women+speak ? Squawky Acres
Maybe a beautiful, leather-bound journal. I always love beautiful blank books, and it could be meaningful for a young woman.
Tanaqui
A journal isn't a bad idea. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with a gift card.
redsquirrel
We gave a really nice journal and a pen that has a light in it so she could write in the dark. I should add that this is a girl who loves to write. We picked a journal big enough to do some drawing or sketching because she also likes to do that.
