NatYoung17
HI! My dd is turning 12 soon and I was thinking about getting her a Magazines Subscription, but I'm having a hard time finding anything secular that's not all about make-up, dating and gossip... I checked into New Moon Magazine and while it looks great, I can't afford $40 for a Magazine subscription... Does anybody have any suggestions? She loves fashion, sewing & crafts, animals... Thanks! Ali in OR
My girls liked (and still get and enjoy) Discovery Girls and the American Girl magazine. I want to say they're around $25, but I can't really remember.
ScoutTN
My 11.5 yo loves Cricket. Literature, art, poetry. They have orher mags for the 10-13 age too.
Happygrl
My daughter turned 12 this fall. She gets Discovery Girls already. For Christmas, I got her 3 magazines to choose from for a subscription--Priority Girl, Curious Jane (Create Jane?) and Girls World. The first two are a bit more serious & topical, the last one is pretty fluff.

Selkie
My daughter likes American Girl magazine. Also, Young Rider is a great magazine if you have a kid who loves horses. I was able to subscribe for a year for only $5.00.
LifeLovePassion
What about something geared to an interest? A sewing magazine or state nature magazine?
zaichiki
If she likes dogs, BARK is a hit over here. http://thebark.com/content/magazine
Pegasus
Before you pay for a subscription, check if your local library has digital subscriptions to any of the magazines you may be interested in. I found out, after paying $$ for years, that my DD's mags are available free through our public online library system.
MercyA
If you don't mind fluff, my daughter loves Animal Tales.
shukriyya
Another vote for New Moon magazine. Oops, just reread your original post, OP, and see that it's not an option. I'll leave the link up for others who may be looking. Edited December 26, 2016 by shukriyya
