sassenach
What works to release fluid from the inner ear? I am recovering from a mean cold and no amount of trying to pop my ears is getting this fluid out. I'm getting tired of it. It's messing with my balance and making me nauseous. I can't afford a chiropractor, even though I know that would help.

fairfarmhand
Mucinex is what I used the last time I was that congested. I couldn't even swallow without my head feeling like it was going to burst.
trulycrabby
Pseudoephedrine helps dry up the fluid in the eustachian tubes. It's what the doc prescribes when my ears are full of fluid.
thessa516
Eat a hot, spicy meal followed by a steam shower. It makes my sinuses run and helps drain fluid out of my ear.

The Governess
Chew gum. Tug on your ears. Lay down with your ear on a heating pad. Drink lots of hot drinks.

Erica in OR This, plus a nasal corticosteroid (such as Flonase). I suppose knowing the cause would help - for me it's allergies. And regular decongestants won't clear my ears, it takes the nasal stuff 3-4 days, but that's the only thing for my ears. Mucinex is good for chest, throat and nasal passages. I also drop dairy when congested.
