What age to watch Little Women (1994 film version)?

Little Women (1994 version) is one of my favorite movies ever, but I'm not sure when to introduce it to my daughters. (They are 7 and 9, and both mature for their ages.) Content-wise, there's nothing objectionable in the film, of course; I guess I'm mainly worried that the sad scenes will be too sad. (And/or that the Amy-falling-through-the-ice scene might be frightening.) Thoughts? I'm in no rush to show it, but it's Christmas and we are just about to begin a Civil War unit in history, so it feels like good timing in that sense. (But of course I can always wait until the next time we do Civil War.) Would love to hear your thoughts and/or reports about how your own children responded to the film. Thanks!

My children are very sensitive to movies, more to suspense and violence and some emotional themes. And yet we were able to watch this one last year, they were 5 and 7 then. And it's likely that they watched it a year before that. There was some sadness around it but not too much. I think also because we've not read the book, it's a little less impactful.

That said, my girls don't like the movie either. They complain when I want to watch it. :)

We really limit what our kids watch and they tend to be sensitive. They saw Little Women at about 5 and 7 and were fine with it. They liked it... though I realized afterwards that they didn't get it that Beth died, since it wasn't shown on screen and it's only alluded to afterwards. So that helped. ðŸ˜

That is one of my all time favorite movies, and I watch it every year while wrapping presents. My girls watched it for the first time last year (8&9) and thought it was sad and boring. 😖

I watch while wrapping presents every year too!  LOL!

I'm afraid to show it to my kids in case they don't like it.  I'll wait until they've read the novel, I think.
