Stick of margarine that has been on the kitchen counter for several days... Safe?

EK & I were going to bake cookies several days ago, so I took a stick of margarine (not real butter) out of the refrigerator to soften. But we didn't get to bake the cookies that day, nor the next, nor the next... and the margarine is still out on the counter? Is it safe to use in the cookies now, or should I toss it out and start over?

We always left stick margarine on the counter growing up. There is nothing in it to cause it to go rancid etc ont eh counter, it's basically a stick of oil. It is safe to use for your cookies, and your toast and anything else you want to use margarine on.
