TrixieB
One of my kids' doctors is going to order thyroid tests and B12 and folate tests. What are the exact tests that give all the needed info? I know TSH alone doesn't give the info needed. The doctor is willing to order the various thyroid tests instead of just TSH but I need to know what ask for. Also, B12 and folate tests - is there more than one kind for each? gardenmom5
here is the link to stop the thyroid madness' recommended labwork http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/recommended-labwork/ for folate - you might want to do a mthf test. (it's fairly common - estimates are 50% of the population has at least one mutated gene. - it affects b12 and folate absorption and utilization.)

Soror
Thank you! I didn't think about iron. thyroid is closely linked with iron. you need iron for your thyroid but suboptimal thyroid levels is related to low iron. It is a vicious cycle.
