Melabella
My DD took a few classes at her co-op that were AP/Honors - the student could choose to complete work at either level. She complete the AP track of the classes, but didn't take the AP tests (I know, I know!). Anyway, would it be better to list the classes as Honors or AP without the tests? She will be applying to moderately selective schools, but not highly selective. She will also have 30 Dual Enrollment hours from our local university's honor college, if that makes a difference. regentrude
Has the AP designation of the coop classes been approved by the College Board? (Only in that case may it even be called AP). I would be inclined not to list an AP class without corresponding exam, because that immediately raises the question why the student did not take the test.. Was there a reason why she didn't sit for the AP exams? My son was unable to take the AP English exam his junior year because he had recently had surgery and was physically unable to write for the time duration needed to take the exam. I still listed the class as an AP class on his transcript, but I explained in the documents that I submitted why he didn't have an AP score for that test. If you have a reason why the AP exam was not taken, I would list the class as AP if it was a College Board approved AP class. Otherwise, I would not use the AP designation.
GoodGrief
FWIW, my daughter audited the AP World History class via AP Homeschoolers, and did the assigned work, with the intention of taking the AP exam. Ubnfortunately, I could not identify a location for the exam, and she ultimately took the SAT subject test instead. I did not call the class "AP" in the end, because I thought it would look questionable without the AP exam completed.
bettyandbob
I would list an AP level class with no exam as honors, if I was doing that designation. I lean toward not designating at all and relying on SAT subject tests and AP tests where I can to verify depth.
