caedmyn
I have 3 audible credits I need to use in the next week so I can cancel my membership. I'm trying to think of books my almost 8 yo DS would like. He likes Caddie Woodlawn, the Little House series (especially Farmer Boy), Boxcar Children, and Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books. He doesn't like Beaverly Cleary or the Little Britches series. Any suggestions?
lexi
My 8 year old son has a lot of audible favorites. Not all of them are quality literature. He likes the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates Fablehaven Harry Potter Percy Jackson Swallows and Amazons My Side of the Mountain Crunch by Leslie Conner Lemoncellos Library (and others) Book Scavenger Peter Pan 101 Dalmatians
SebastianCat
At that age, my DS started reading and listening to the Freddy the pig books. The first one in the series is Freddy Goes to Florida. There are over 20 books total, and many (if not all) are also available as audiobooks.
Rachel
Has he listened to any of E.B. White's books? They are my favorites. He might like Pippi Longstocking. The Incredible Journey is good. Which Beverly Clearly books have you tried? There a lot. My son really likes The Mouse and the Motorcycle series and the Henry Huggins stories. He isn't a big fan of the Ramona books, but my daughter likes them. My 8 year old just said, "Young Fredle", "Peter Nimble ", "Sophie Quire and the Last Storyguard", and the Chronicles of Narnia. I think Young Fredle fits in with the other books you mentioned your son liking. We recently listened to Peter Nimble and his Fantastic Eyes, I thought it was really good too but it's pretty different from the other books your son mentioned liking. Guest
If you cancel your subscription, you can still use your credits any time :) I recently did this. Sorry, nevermind! Evidently this was changed. Boo. My seven year old recently listened to 50 famous Stories Retold, Children of Noisy Village and Robin Hood, loving them all. And The Secret Garden. Guest
We have the Complete Narnia books on disc. If they have that on Audible too, it's very very good!
ScoutTN
Seconding E.B. White and the Freddy books.
PeterPan
My ds, similar age, really enjoys the Owls of Ga'hoole series. Also, there are a few books in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever series. Great Courses are on audible, and some of them, like the US history, would be enjoyed by all your kids. Definitely ditto the EB White books. My ds is NUTSO for The Hero's Guide to Being... series by Healy.
kolamum
The Incorrigible Children Of Ashton Place.. but be forewarned, once you start the series it's hard to let go. If the author doesn't hurry up with the next book I may go nutty. :P
