Are you able to fight off sickness?

I feel the start of this cold/flu coming on.

My eyes are swollen and achey, my body is a bit achey, and my throat is scratchy and I keep having to clear my throat.

UGH!

This all started yesterday.

I took Vit. C, Sombucol, and drank a bunch of water.

Today it is still there, maybe a little better (I HOPE!)

I will take more Vit. C, more Sombucol, lay low all day, and hope to be better tomorrow.

Anything else I can do?

I really don't want to take off of work from my new job yet.

Thanks,

Dawn

I had some of this 2 weeks ago.  Dayquil works pretty well for lessening symptoms.

I have some.  I am wondering about things to make it not get any worse or making it go away though.

The problem with DayQuil is that, even though it says "day", it makes me groggy and tired.

Gonna sound like grandma but good bone broth really helps me kick sickness.

Lemon juice in water.

My husband swears by airborne and coldese. I don't see a huge difference when I use them but they work for him. He also says to take zinc tablets.

My good friend from Germany always says to get outside. She is a firm believer that the inside air is polluted and that fresh air will help you kick any bug.

This is clinically attested to.

You suck zinc under your tongue every two hours all day for about two days at the onset of a throat-based cold.  This keeps the germs from overrunning you while your immune system revs up to fight them.  You still do get the cold, but not NEARLY as bad.  So this is actually curative, not just masking the symptoms like theraflu does.

So, for instance, a typical cold has 3-4 really bad days and then tails off over 10 days to 2 weeks.  When I do this, I have no bad days, and feel mildly sick for about a week.

I hit the Listerine.  It works very well here.  Part of the formula is a thyme oil, which helps kill infection, and alcohol, which also kills.  I gargle 3-4 times a day as soon as I feel the itchies in my throat and it takes care of that part of the cold for me.

For the rest, my neti pot and a diet high in ginger, onion, garlic helps me feel better.

Recipe?

Here's the recipe:

1/2 c raw apple cider vinegar

1 Tbsp garlic powder

1 tsp cayenne powder

1/4 tsp salt

It tastes nasty. Throw a spoonful down the back of your throat like a shot, trying not to hit the sides of the tongue (for taste, not because it's harmful). Take it every hour or more often.

I don't always have raw acv.  Just use regular, it works fine.

What zinc do you use, Carol?

My essential oil girlfriend would have you put a drop of theives on or under your tongue (can't remember which). She swears by it for herself and her kids. I think kids get it rubbed on their chest or feet. Idk. Says it kicks it right away so kids can go to school. But, she gets paid to love it, so...,;)

Second (or third) the vitamin D3 suggestion. Small bottle of liquid by Bluebonnet. One drop is 1000IU - it lasts for a long time.

Ginger tea - like Princess Mommy said and throw a little garlic in there as well.

The combo of ginger and garlic is supposed to increase their immune fighting abilities exponentially. Can't link a scientific study on this but I try everything when I feel something coming on.
