Guest
Oh golly, poor dear. Maybe have her squat and bear down? That might be enough to push it down a bit, then she'll have to fish around for the cord.

Chelli
Oh golly, poor dear. Maybe have her squat and bear down? That might be enough to push it down a bit, then she'll have to fish around for the cord. I don't think that will work. I can actually see the skin since the has the tampon pulled out enough. It's looped under the bottom side of the tampon kind of making a letter U holding the tampon in place.
Chelli
Have her reach a finger inside her and run it around the outside of the tampon. If I'm understanding what you are describing, I have had that happen a couple times (ETA: only when I was a young teen so you are probably right and it could be the hymen). It's weird. But running a finger around solved it by moving whatever was blocking and I was able to remove the tampon. Good idea! I'll have her try this. ktgrok
And use lube!!!! Vaseline would be fine (or sex lube if you have it and don't mind explaining it). My mom had to use lube some when she was a teen and used tampons, she has told me.

Slache
Is it all better yet?
Chelli
Is it all better yet? She got the actual tampon out, but as she was pulling it out she got the string wrapped around the piece of skin creating a slip knot with the string. We're trying to decide if the cutting the string to release the knot is the best course of action or trying to get the knot loose without cutting it. MedicMom
In all honesty if you do wind up going to the ER, they see this all. The. Time.

Chelli
She got it out after snipping the string. Thanks for all the help! Definitely will be seeing a gyno soon to make sure it's not a bigger issue.

Chelli
Thanks for the update! I'm so glad she's ok! Me too! It was quite traumatic for both of us. She's sworn off tampons for the foreseeable future. :thumbup1:
Chelli
This went on for 45 minutes! I'm exhausted. This was exhausting. Take her out for ice cream. She deserves it. She's asking for a frappuccino from the local coffee shop. We're on our way. :driving: I'll need something a little stronger than that.

MercyA
Yeah. Like a margarita. When I was a young teenager and had a bike accident resulting in me landing face-first on the pavement, my mother put me in a warm bath with a (small) glass of wine. Bless her heart. :)

Seasider
Chelli I'n sorry I forgot to express concern for your daughter - I believe one day she will share the story with her own daughter. Experiences like that are so oddly bonding!
