Piano chord help

I need to get better and faster at sight reading chords and chord progressions. I was wondering if anyone can recommend an exercise book that can help with this. I already have a book with standard cadences, but I would like to work more variety of progressions. The style is classical. I don't have a piano teacher to ask. Thanks !

It isn't a "practice" book, but you can learn a lot by playing hymns from a traditional hymnal. The hymns are basically written as one chord after another, and practicing them increases your ability to "read" a chord in a rather efficient way--sort of like learning to read a word without looking at each letter.

Wanna (music) nerd out?  This course is fantastic, free, and taught in beautiful accents!  https://www.coursera.org/learn/edinburgh-music-theory

If you can learn about scales, then you will find that the major chord in each key is the 1st, 3rd, and 5th note in the major scale, regardless of their order of appearance in the performance.  (Technically, the intervals of the chords are made of half-steps, which are easiest to learn on the piano IMO.)  For example, the C major chord includes C, E and G.  If I play a C and G in the left hand, plus an E above with the right, that is a C major chord.

I wish I had a book to recommend, but I've learned and taught the chords as arising organically from the scales.  There are books on amazon, though.  Bumping for someone else's input!  :)
