rose
I'm going slightly crazy trying to find a potty that is actually appropriate for toddlers and am considering my options for a new one. I think that I've gone through 5 now. Either they work for girls and not boys or for boys and not girls or they are too tall and work for neither gender or the pee runs under the seat and onto the floor or there is a foam seat that gets saturated. Can you tell this has been a long road? Anyways, I need a potty that is easy to clean and easy for young, short toddlers to use without peeing on the floor. Suggestions? Edited to add: We use an outdoor composting toilet so I really need a stand-alone potty rather than a toilet seat. KungFuPanda
I'm lazy, but my favorite was the seat you put on the regular toilet between the seat and the lid. No emptying or extra toilet cleaning. Toddlers can literally climb walls, so even my physically disabled child could get onto the big toilet. I put a stool there for climbing on. If your son cannot hit the target sitting or standing, and just doesn't grasp "aim the hose down," I've heard people have luck teaching their sons to straddle the seat backwards and hold onto the back.
AndyJoy
We've really been happy with the Baby Bjorn one, but my kids aren't on the small side. DS started using it at 15 months. It was very stable for him to get on himself and he never splashed. DD3 uses it now if the regular toilet is already occupied. https://www.amazon.com/BabyBj%C3%B6rn-055115US-BABYBJORN-Potty-Chair/dp/B000056J7L There is a smaller version we haven't used, but friends said it was great for their smaller kids and the walk/crouch over style was easier for their kids to navigate. https://www.walmart.com/ip/39604123?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222228030125085&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=50602153472&wl4=pla-102932865392&wl5=9029582&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=39604123&wl13=&veh=sem I've seen both in stock at Target stores if you want to check out in person. The Amazon reviews for the first one shows side-by-side pics. Edited October 13, 2016 by AndyJoy

Stratford
We've used the baby bjorn potty for all 4 kids (not the tiny one, the larger size with a seat back.) It worked well for my younger/smaller kids, is super easy to clean, and very durable (anything that lasts 12+ years in our house has to be well made.) The worst potty we used was a bells-and-whistles singing potty that had a bazillion parts and ate batteries like candy - it was a gift.
