Moxie
What would you serve if you needed to feed 20 adults lunch with a refrigerator available but no kitchen?
Farrar
Sandwich bar. Or I'd bring chili or stew or possibly pulled pork or chicken in a crock pot to warm it up.
whitestavern
A few kinds of cold salad. Maybe one with chicken, pasta and vegetables, maybe one grain based and a big tossed. You might offer some rolls and butter as well.
Sarah CB
Lunch meat and cheese tray with lots of different kinds of breads available. Potato salad, mac salad, fruit salad, veggie tray. Probably also chips and dip (maybe potatoe chips with like french onion, AND tortilla chips with salsa) and then maybe some sort of dessert type of food/dessert like cookies, or maybe taffy apple salad. This.
Ali in OR
The sandwich bar idea is probably easiest and allows those with dietary restrictions to pick and choose. Add fresh fruit, chips, cookies or brownies for dessert. I do like the crockpot of chili idea as our weather gets colder, but may be a little harder for those with dietary issues or picky eaters.
Heatherwith4
I'd go get some chicken salad and croissants from Costco, some fruit salad and cookies. (This is assuming no one is vegetarian.) A green salad would be good, too.
KatieJ
Depends on the weather where you are. If it's warm I'd go with some kind of sandwiches and salads. If it's colder fall weather, I'd would do something hot in crockpots. Men , women? Children? Who is going to be eating makes a difference in my selections as well. marbel
I have made chili work in this type of situation. I make two types: a vegetarian (beans, tomatoes, etc) and a meat version with no beans. People can choose the one they like, or mix them together. Fixings like cheese, sour cream etc are available too.
SparklyUnicorn
I'd order pizza.
Guest
We use sandwich platters, chips, and soda in coolers for big events where someone might have a dietary issue. It tends to be more flexible. Several crockpots of soup along with rolls/cornbread and salad also works great.
Jkacz
Our Texas Roadhouse has a catering menu. Their Texas sized bbq feast for 20 has chicken, ribs, pulled pork, a side, a salad and their bread and butter. We used them to cater our last event and, while a little more expensive initially, everything was included including plates, napkins and utensils. Food was great and cleanup was easy.
trulycrabby
Just run away! Seriously, though: pulled pork, bread for sandwiches, cole slaw, fresh fruit tray, and dessert.
LucyStoner
I'd do the carnitas from Smitten Kitchen, taken in a crockpot, with all the fixings for tacos (red cabbage slaw, limes, avocado, salsas) and a second crockpot warming a vegetarian filling plus a cold roasted corn salad.

TKDmom
Curried chicken salad, croissants, veggies and dip, chips, lemonade. Edit: I suppose it's getting cold in some places. Then I'd have a 2-3 crockpots of different soups and bread. Im not into fancy meals. ;) Edited October 12, 2016 by TKDmom
