Guest
I think I want a new one every year about this time as I get underway with all my Christmas presents. Never buy one, but maybe this is the year. Looking for a solid workhorse. I quilt and would like to be able to handle thicker items/materials - quilts for quilting, dog collars/leashes...I ordered a robe from L.L. Bean and think I may need to hem it.... that kind of stuff. I've always wanted a Husqvarna. What do you have and love??? ETA: Not looking so much for a bunch of fancy stitches and features as much as I want a sold machine that can handle heavy work. KatieJ
I have a 35 year old Pfaff that I pray every year to get me thru my Christmas list. I am afraid to buy something new because really, do they make them like that any more? I feel your pain. When I do decide to buy, mint will, probably be either a Pfaff, because I use the walking foot 99percent of the time, or a Babylock brcause I love my Babylock serger. BrittanyM
Bernina is an awesome brand, built to last for sure my Grandma has a couple and my Mom has one. I have a Babylock that is nice but very automated so I cringe the day the computer on it breaks! Jenome is a good brand for a well built machine that isn't as high end as Bernina. I never have to take it in. Never have problems. I have thought about selling the Bernina to get a newer PFAFF.
mohsmom23
For a solid machine without fancy stitches, I highly recommend the Brother PQ1500. It's a mechanical, straight stitch only machine, but it can go through very thick fabrics with ease. It also has a larger neck area which makes quilting much easier. Guest
A friend of mine used to work for Pfaff, used to make some really fancy clothing for them many years ago. I know she loves and recommends Pfaff, and I think it's funny to have gotten that recommendation here a few times....It is a shame that they don't make the machines like they used to.
