zaichiki
Dress shopping! Dd is not dancing to, but playing, tango music. She is looking for a dress (preferably longer-skirted but not long-sleeved) to wear that will "match" the music. She's not interested in skin-tight styles, but she wants to find a style as authentic as possible. Can any dancers or dress experts out there make a suggestion? TheReader
When we saw a Tango show in Argentina, the dresses were full skirted (but high slits), and only tight in the bodice. Let me see if I can find a link to the one we went to, the costumes will be shown. (we weren't allowed to photograph during, sadly).
TheReader
Well, here's the link, but this shows the costumes more risque than I was remembering. Photo #3 and a few others show styles though that if you adapt for "street wear" instead of "dance wear" (i.e., not the high slits, etc...) would be appropriate. The dress changed through the ages, and this particular tango house shows that, which is why the different styles of dress all in one show. But maybe it will give an idea (it also shows the musicians, but they were all male at this place; still, maybe that will give her a basis from which to start). I suggest previewing, as one or two of the costumes are particularly risque (one has a mesh top with strategically placed beading as the only actual cover.....). http://querandi.com.ar/en/gallery/ If you click around the other tabs (Show, Events, etc.) you'll see better views of some of the costumes. Hope this helps! This is one of the more authentic places in Argentina where one can see the historical style Tango shows.
