Granny_Weatherwax Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Because I'm sitting here wanting to eat the fundraiser chocolate bars that DGD is selling but I've already met my calorie quota for the day and you're an enabler. 7 Quote
Slache Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Wow! That didn't take long  I win all the things. 6 Quote
Seasider Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 No, I don't know why YOU started a thread about chocolate, but I can tell you why I was about to start one. I have this friend who is a serial MLM entrepreneur. She starts repping one, sticks with it 6-12 months, then hops to a new one. Her fb timeline could be a case study of some kind. Anyway... Her latest thing is Dove Chocolate Discoveries (or something like that). Seriously, she is MLMing chocolate parties. I can't for the life of me imagine that being successful in any way, despite a universal love of chocolate. SMH here but maybe y'all can share some insight I can't imagine. 1 Quote
Rosie_0801 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 I ate chocolate covered sandalwood nuts the other month, mixed with bits of dried quondong. Quote

creekland Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Had to vote no, but my non-sweet loving self is literally here eating a bowl of Count Chocula as I do so. Why? Because it's one cereal I remember and love from my youth and I seem to recall they discontinued it except at Halloween. My memory could be off, but when I was at the store on Friday and saw the special display - and for only $2.50 - my taste buds needed some nostalgia. And it's very good. (I had wondered if it would be everything I remembered or leave me disappointed.) Normally, I'm only into Dark Chocolate, sometimes with Almonds or Macadamia Nuts. NO salted varieties. 4 Quote

I used to be a devoted consumer of chocolate. I've always had a sweet tooth. And...now I am pregnant with DC#4. It turns out that he or she does not like anything sweet. Chocolate is out. Ice cream is out. Jam/jelly is out. FTR, that's a cruel trick to play on a pregnant women. I only have 3 months left...(which means there's only 3 months until Christmas!). But I will happily let everyone else enjoy chocolate still, as long as I can eat all of the spicy, garlicky things. 1 Quote

Multi Level Marketing (i.e., home party sales businesses) and Shaking My Head. Although I personally think anyone who believes chocolate parties are a great repetitive source of income might need a smack. (My apologies to any of you who actually think this is a good idea. This poor acquaintance of mine just needs an intervention and maybe a real job.) 2 Quote

You know how expensive cheese shops have signs saying it has a fruity flavour, you buy it and it absolutely doesn't, well this one really did have caramel after tones! It was even called 'Midnight Moon' which is a terribly romantic name for a cheese. Quote

Sorry for the aside -- that just took me by surprise. I have seen salted chocolate -- whether it's a success or not depends entirely upon whether the chocolate is dark enough and high enough quality, and whether a good coordinating salt is used. That said, I will not be eating salted chocolate again any time in the near future except on rare occasions -- I have to reduce my salt intake, so I will happily forego those and eat other intense chocolate instead. AMJ Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Nah it was all in fun. They didn't do it to be mean and we all shared. We never have mini candy bars around here except around Halloween, so it was like finding ice cream under their pillow. :w00t: :drool5: Okay, I'll forgive them this once. But tell them the bit about it being medicine. You don't deprive Mom of her chocolate, and you don't eat too much in one sitting. Chocolate overdose is a very real danger, and not at all pretty in kids. 1 Quote

My in laws salt watermelon. They consider it normal. It was a surprising (and gross) way for me to find out this variation of eating. Quote
shawthorne44 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 One thing I don't understand is spicy chocolate. As in pepper added. Salt, caramel, bacon, all that is fine. But pepper chocolate is just yuck. Quote
