Thoughts about this writing situation?

This week DD has been asking to write stories in cursive, rather than using Just Write 3 and Modern Speller (which I typed into cursive so I could hit that along with spelling in one shot).

 

She has been a super reluctant writer with rather bad handwriting, but she is writing willingly now and doing so in legible cursive. So I'm letting her do it.

 

I cannot micromanage this kid without frustrating her to death and ruining everything, so I think the best route is to be hands off and let her write if she wants to write.

Awesome! I always let kids write when they want to write, when they want to come up with their own assignment etc...

Of course you always let children write when they want to write. :-)

Another poster did this for a year and said that it was one of the best things she's done for her student. She was passionate about it and it stuck with me.
