ProudGrandma Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I really like medical dramas (not the medical reality type shows), like Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Royal Pains. I also like witty shows like Gilmore Girls and Drop Dead Diva, and other dramas like Partenthood, Switched at Birth, Army Wives, Hart of Dixie, and Friday Night Lights. I enjoy shows like Heartland, Cedar Cove and When Calls the Heart. An out of the normal like for me was The good Wife. I usually do not like political dramas, but that one was good. So now I am looking again for something new...along these lines. I have Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. Can you please give me some new names and where I should be able to find the show? thank you very much! Oh, if it may take an episode or two to get into the series, tell me that...because I have been known to give up half way through the first show if I am not hooked...and I made that mistake with Friday Night Lights...and I am glad I went back and tried it again at the suggestion of someone here. All of the other shows I mentioned I was hooked almost right away. thanks again. Quote
magnificent_baby Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I really like Call the Midwife, although have not had time to catch up on the last few seasons. It used to be on Netflix, I'm assuming it still is? Did you watch the series premiere of This is Us last week? Really good; it seemed a little dry throughout but the ending was worth staying with it. 1 Quote
Angie in VA Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Not medical, but This Is Us. There's a thread about it now. E02 airs tonight, but you can watch online. Some folks on that thread mentioned liking Parenthood and TIU. Also, I think one character was on Gilmore Girls. I've seen neither, but just got sucked into TIU this morning. Quote

You beat me to it. I had to link it. Trying to get someone else sucked in, lol. I just texted my movie friend, "Please tell me you're watching This Is Us." It's right up her alley. 1 Quote

happypamama Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I like several of the shows on your list. I like not-too-gory crime drama as well. I would recommend: White Collar (Generally quite clean, witty, interesting.) Rizzoli & Isles (This does have a couple of episodes with slightly gory murder scenes in the beginning; the rest of the show is generally pretty decent. Has some personal drama to keep it interesting. I believe it's on Hulu now.) Crossing Jordan (Also not too gory. Personal drama. Witty sarcastic type of humor, and good characters.) Madam Secretary (Wasn't sure I'd like this, because I'm not really into political stuff, but it was actually very interesting.) Call the Midwife (I love this one, even if I sometimes fuss at it.) The Mindy Project (Hulu -- it's totally ridiculously silly, and I can't relate to her at all, but it's entertaining.) I liked the first episode of This is Us as well. I like BlueBloods too, but it's not the most exciting sometimes, and I think sometimes it suffers from having too many characters involved in different story arcs. But there's a lot I like about it too. Fwiw, I could not get into House or The Middle, despite people raving about them. I don't know if Raising Hope is on any of the services, but while it took me a season or so to get into it, I ended up liking it. Quote
ProudGrandma Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 thanks for some new show titles. I am writing down each one to check out...keep 'em coming. thanks. Quote
Angie in VA Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 And if you like British shows, I like Doc Martin. It's a little about medicine, but it's mostly about my favorite character Port Wenn. 1 Quote
