Flowergirl159 Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 I am looking for a list of books that teach us about certain character traits. I know that most character traits are caught rather than taught. But I also know that a lot of what we read, has a huge influence on us as well. I am not referring to learning how to apply the traits, such as Laying Down the Rails (which is great by the way). I am looking for books that we can read where a certain character pertains to particular traits that we want to emulate. For instance: Pollyanna is great for gratitude. I have heard that Watership Down is good for learning to not be bossy (I haven't read this one). Has anyone come across a list or made one that might help here? Or even have a few books in mind? Thanks so much :) Quote

3girls4me Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 Beautiful Feet Books has a literature package with a guide on teaching character through books. You could just buy the guide and buy the books used or check your library. They have the guides for different ages as well. http://bfbooks.com/Literature-Packs Scroll down until you see the link for the Character pack. 1 Quote

RenaInTexas Posted September 26, 2016 Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) Any Bernstein Bears book. They all have a character trait them...like the Bears learn humility. The books may be a little young for your 11 year old, but may be fine for the 9 and 7 yr olds. As an adult, I still like them though. Edited September 26, 2016 by RenaInTexas Quote
