Hilltopmom
The whole top shelf of our master closet is photo albums since the kids were born, so 16 years worth of family photos. My kids all like to look at them often. . I'd love to scan only the best photos & have them made into shutterfly books. Has anyone done this? It's a huge undertaking, but I'm thinking maybe my artsy teen might like to work on the project. We'd need a good scanner to do it. They would wind up being just the nice photos (who needs 1,000 pictures of first baby in different outfits?!) & take up so much less space! Anyone btdt? ETA- our closet does not have a door, & our bed is directly across from it, where we sit at night to watch a show on the iPad once the littles are in bed. So, I see these every single night & they bug me :) Edited September 18, 2016 by Hilltopmom
mom2bee
I wouldn't ask one person to do it since it seems everyone likes to look at the pictures. Instead, I might make it a family project, 2x a month, we sit down and work through an album at a time.
Jaz
Since your kids like to look at them, I wouldn't take on such a big project. Perhaps move to Shutterfly books in the future. That's what I did. I scrapbooked all of our photos for awhile, then moved to scrapbooking just a theme of "Traveling with Daddy" since we travel for fun with my dh for work. Now, I plan to make Shutterfly books.
Elizabeth 2
Or, if you wanted to, you could use a service. For about 1800 photos it's $150. http://www.scanmyphotos.com/services/photo-scanning.html
Guest
My mom took the photo albums apart and made 2 out of the best of the shots--one for me and one for my sister. I am happy to have it. My own pix--oy. They breed in the storage boxes I think.
J-rap
We all love to look at old family albums, and I'm probably never going to change them to digital. But, beginning about 6 years ago, I began making Shutterfly albums instead. It kind of forces you to condense, and the albums are much thinner! But, if you really want to digitalize what you have, yeah-- I'd make it a project for the children, and I wouldn't put too much time into overthinking exactly which pictures. I'd just tell the kids: Pick 20 pics from each album. Or something like that.
