Soror
I need to learn anatomy for Yoga teacher training. My background is in Social Work, the only anatomy I know is just what I've picked up here and there, and isn't all that much. Our text for training is Anatomy of Movement by Calais-Germain. My teacher has recommended Essential Anatomy app which is well reviewed and I thought about working through an anatomy coloring book. Does the all knowing Hive have any other recommendations? trulycrabby
Anatomy Coloring Book worked for me. Do you have the Yoga Anatomy book? It is very good once you have learned basic anatomy: https://www.amazon.com/Yoga-Anatomy-2nd-Leslie-Kaminoff-ebook/dp/B006LXOD58/ref=la_B001K8W4P0_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1473816503&sr=1-1 Good luck with training! :hurray: Edited September 14, 2016 by trulycrabby
Twigs
I recommend a Medical Terminology workbook, like this. You don't have to get the most recent edition, but you will want one that has not been written in. It is a mini Anatomy course, focusing on naming the body parts and other medical vocabulary. Best wishes.
theelfqueen
We watched some of the Crash Course Anatomy videos as part of Biology -- they were pretty thorough.
Guest
Seconding the app your instructor recommended and we liked the Color Yourself Smart series for anatomy. Not sure if it's detailed enough for you, but I liked it for a general anatomy overview.

Thank you, ladies, so much. I do enjoy the Crash Course videos so I'll check out those. I do have a yoga anatomy book too, Functional Anatomy of Yoga by Keil. But I've not really delved into that one yet, thank you for a rec. for another. I will likely end up getting more. I ordered the Language of Med. I think the workbook format will be helpful to me. I'm not sure that all of the info will be needed but I can just pick and choose. Thanks again!
umsami
In massage school, we actually built the muscles on a skeleton with clay, which was super fun....but then again, we needed to learn all the attachments and such. I would look at either the anatomy coloring book or an app. Be sure you know what you need to know. It may just be the major muscle groups which shouldn't be hard at all.

I'll have to think on the building w/ clay, I'm not generally a hands on kind of gal but it might be something to consider. I'm interested in learning it not just because I have to but because whatever I learn will only be a help for me as a teacher, so whatever I can learn all the better.
